Ford Leads the Industry in Four-Wheel-Powered Trucks and SUVs
Thanks to an incredible portfolio of vehicles including the F-150 Raptor and Bronco, Ford is reestablishing itself as the name to beat for off-road enthusiasts. To celebrate 4×4 Day — or April 4 — Ford revealed that it is America’s top brand for four-wheel-powered trucks and SUVs.
According to S&P Global Mobility data, Ford sold 1.2 million four-wheel-powered vehicles in 2021. That’s 18% more than Toyota and a whole 42% more than Jeep. This includes any vehicles with 4×4, four-wheel drive, or all-wheel drive.
Ford U.S. SUV Marketing Manager Dave Rivers said that 75 percent of all Ford vehicles sold at retail last year were four-wheel-powered.
“We know customers want SUVs for the additional cargo space and convenience, and also for the capability and confidence that comes with a four-wheel-powered vehicle,” said Rivers.
A big reason for this is the variety Ford offers. The 2022 North American Truck of the Year™ and North American Utility Vehicle of the Year™ — the Maverick and Bronco, respectively — show the depth and breadth of the Blue Oval portfolio when it comes to four-wheel-powered trucks and SUVs.
